Signs of a Myofascial Disorder

Why Myofunctional Therapy?

People of all ages can experience orofacial challenges. Habits can be hard to break.  Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy can be instrumental in helping a developing tongue and airway.  A consultation can be very valuable. General health, speech, orthodontic, dental health, swallowing and breathing issues may persist for many years. Therapy can help you make necessary changes that will benefit you throughout life.

The goal of myofunctional therapy is to raise awareness and strengthen the facial muscles to meet these goals:

 1) Getting the tongue to rest in the proper position all day and all night

 2) Keeping the lips closed when you are not talking or eating

 3) Healthy chewing

4) And proper swallowing patterns

When we reach these goals, troublesome symptoms may be relieved. Issues such as TMJ muscle pain, sleep apnea, colds,  respiratory issues and digestion are more easily managed.
